The Stat-X First Responder® is a handheld emergency fire suppression tool (FST) designed for quick deployment in small, early-stage fires within enclosed spaces. This lightweight device, activated by a pull actuator, can be tossed into a fire, where it releases a condensed aerosol agent within seconds to immediately suppress the flames. Its rapid response capability helps contain fires before they become unmanageable, reducing the need for extensive fire department intervention and minimizing water damage and downtime.

Ideal for firefighters, police, and other first responders, the Stat-X First Responder buys crucial time during emergencies. It aids in preventing flashovers, provides escape routes through flames, and is particularly useful for utility workers in hazardous environments like underground vaults. By slowing the fire’s progression, it ensures safety for personnel and facilitates a controlled response, making it an essential addition to any emergency response toolkit.

The Stat-X First Responder is truly a new innovation in fire suppression technology. There is no other like it on the market today. It will not replace anything you are currently using, but it could be a wonderful addition to your arsenal of tools.

    Specifications

Container. The unit housing is constructed of metal and incorporates insulating/cooling material. The discharge ports for agent release are located around the circumference of the housing. The housing shall accept a M228 initiator and shall be non-pressurized prior to system activation.

Initiator. The initiator complys with MIL specification DTL9235210 (modified for output charge) and is subject to 100% reliability testing by means of x-ray.

Safety. Units incorporate dual safety devices — a crimped safety pin requiring a twist motion prior to pulling the safety pin by means of a ring attachment. The initiator shall incorporate a minimum five second delay timer prior to activation.

Aerosol Agent. Aerosol generated is potassium based and manufacturer shall provide fifteen (15) minute time weighted average data from an independent United States laboratory demonstrating that the aerosol does not produce (at normal design concentrations) harmful levels of CO, CO2, and NOx based on NIOSH standards. Agent has no ozone depletion potential and no global warming potential. Agent is approved for commercial sale by the US EPA.

Dimensions. Unit contains 500 grams of aerosol forming composition and is 5.625 inches tall (6.875 including initiator mechanism) with a diameter of 3.188 inches. Total unit weight is < 2.7 lbs.

Origin. Units are manufactured in the U.S.A.

    COVERAGE PARAMETERS:

Coverage will be dependent on the specific characteristics of the situation encountered — class of fire, level of involvement, areas of potential leakage, etc. Tests have shown significant suppression effects up to an 8 ft high x 10 ft x 10 ft room — around twenty (20) cubic meters. More units would be required for a larger volume or spaces with excessive leakage. The aerosol flows and spreads rapidly throughout the volume, in a manner similar to a gas. However, since the aerosol is buoyant, more may be required in a high ceiling situation.

The Stat-X First Responder is most effective when thrown directly at or near the fire.
