About the Program

This non-live fire combined Fire Warden / Fire Extinguisher Training Course is designed to assist the employer in providing sufficient instruction and training to meet the bulk of the legal requirements as referred to in the Fire Prevention Act of Trinidad and Tobago and NFPA guidelines. 


It Covers staff evacuation procedures and equips attendees with an appropriate level of understanding to carry out the role of the Fire Warden safely in their workplace. 

Program Objectives

At the end of the course the student will:

  • Be aware of the dangers of fire.
  • Understand what to do in the event of a fire alarm.
  • Be able safely to evacuate the building.

Session 1: 

Theory

  • Emergency Response Planning
  • Emergency Response Team Structure
  • Response Protocols – Fire/Earthquake/Bomb/Medical
  • Main sources of Fires
  • Elements of Combustion
  • Classes of Fires
  • Fire Suppression Systems
  • Fire Prevention Practices
  • Evacuation Procedures/Sweep Assessment

Training Structure

Session 2: 

Practical

  • Participants will be trained in correct extinguisher selection and use
  • P.A.S.S. Technique
  • Inspection of Fire Extinguishers and understanding of various uses
  • Self-rescue techniques without respiratory equipment
  • Use of Fire Blanket
