Program Outline

  • Understanding automotive detailing as a professional discipline, including industry expectations and career pathways
  • The difference between basic car washing and professional automotive detailing, including:
    • The standards, processes, and responsibilities that define detailing as a skilled trade
  • Working safely and responsibly through proper use and understanding of:
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Safety Data Sheet (SDS) awareness
    • pH knowledge
  • Selecting and using the appropriate chemicals without causing damage on:
    • Paint
    • Wheels
    • Glass
    • Interior surfaces
  • Execute core detailing processes, including:
    • Wheels, tires, and wheel arch cleaning
    • Door shuts, boot shuts, and engine bay cleaning
    • Safe exterior washing and contamination removal
    • Interior cleaning of plastics, fabric, leather, and glass
  • Conducting professional vehicle inspections and preparation prior to detailing
  • Identify surface types (gloss, matte, satin, wraps) and apply correct cleaning approaches
  • Understanding entry-level machine polishing concepts and safe application
  • Learn foundational paint protection options including:
    • Waxes
    • Sealants
    • Coatings
  • Perform final quality control checks to professional standards
