- Understanding automotive detailing as a professional discipline, including industry expectations and career pathways
- The difference between basic car washing and professional automotive detailing, including:
- The standards, processes, and responsibilities that define detailing as a skilled trade
- Working safely and responsibly through proper use and understanding of:
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Safety Data Sheet (SDS) awareness
- pH knowledge
- Selecting and using the appropriate chemicals without causing damage on:
- Paint
- Wheels
- Glass
- Interior surfaces
- Execute core detailing processes, including:
- Wheels, tires, and wheel arch cleaning
- Door shuts, boot shuts, and engine bay cleaning
- Safe exterior washing and contamination removal
- Interior cleaning of plastics, fabric, leather, and glass
- Conducting professional vehicle inspections and preparation prior to detailing
- Identify surface types (gloss, matte, satin, wraps) and apply correct cleaning approaches
- Understanding entry-level machine polishing concepts and safe application
- Learn foundational paint protection options including:
- Waxes
- Sealants
- Coatings
- Perform final quality control checks to professional standards
